# Read the chart

After **Generate Chart**, the wheel is the natal chart for the birth data you entered. It is a drawing of that moment, not a written interpretation.

## On the wheel

A **planet** is a body in the sky at the birth time, drawn at its position on the ecliptic.

A **sign** is one of the twelve 30° sections of the zodiac. The planet's sign is the section it falls in. Tropical and Sidereal choose where those sections start. See [Preferences](/simple-astrology-docs/preferences).

A **house** is one of twelve divisions of the local sky. The house system chooses where the boundaries fall.

An **aspect** is an angle between two planets. The app draws a line when that angle is close enough. The **orb** is how many degrees of slack still count.

## Visible aspects

**Visible aspects** sits beside the wheel. Each button is one aspect type. The number after **orb** is the slack in degrees. Select a type to draw it, and select it again to hide it.

The types are **Conjunction**, **Opposition**, **Trine**, **Sextile**, **Square**, and **Quintile**.

- **All** turns every type on.
- **Major** turns on Conjunction, Opposition, Trine, Square, and Sextile, and turns Quintile off.
- **None** turns every type off.

Nothing is drawn for aspects until you turn a type on. The choice is saved and the chart is drawn again.

## A closer look

**View Full Screen** opens the wheel on its own. Press Escape to leave it.

**Show Magnifier** enlarges the wheel in place. **Hide Magnifier** returns to the fitted chart.
